Tamron Co., Ltd., Saitama, Japan, a specialised manufacturer of optics and one of the leading companies in the security/surveillance equipment industry, announces the development of a derivative lens model from the existing high-performance LWIR 35-105mm F/1.0 zoom lens with built in VC (Vibration Compensation: optical image stabilisation system). Now, featuring a standard screw-in mount (M34, P0.5) enhancing its versatility in system integration by offering flexibility in communication protocol.

Product development concept

With the addition of LQZ3X3510V model with the screw-in mount and the VC functionality, the lineup of zoom lenses covering the most popular focal length of 35-105mm is to be comprised of three, including the small and light-weight LVZ3X3516N and LVZ3X3516A. It is expected that the expanded product offering will contribute to facilitating use of the LWIR zoom lenses with the right features for the right installation conditions and environment.

Furthermore, an optional accessory board (product code: #SY004) is made available for LQZ3X3510V that allows for conversion of communication protocol to the popular serial from the customised SPI, which will help expanding the use of the LWIR zooms in the security/surveillance segments, making the most of the unique properties of LWIR imaging.

Tamron is committed to continuing development of LWIR optics that will offer higher versatility and functionality, and acutely addressing the needs of customers.

Main features

1. Versatile mount configuration
  • Comes with a standard screw-in mount of M34, P05, which is utilised by the majority of LWIR cameras available today.
2. Addition of a communication conversion board as an optional accessory
  • Conversion to the more versatile serial communication protocol from custom SPI is made available for ease of system integration.
3. VC ("Vibration Compensation"), the World's first image stabilisation system in LWIR optics
  • Effective for installation environments where image degradation can be caused by wind, continuous vibration picked up from the ground, or machinery located close by and the like
  • Quality images without any noticeable blur are achieved by optimal compensation of the vibrations.
4. F/1.0 fast aperture optical design
  • An optical design of F/1.0 fast aperture throughout the entire 35-105mm focal length range delivers flat-field performance from Wide to Tele.
5. 3X zoom lens covering the most frequently used focal length range up to 100mm
  • A viable alternative to replace a fixed focal lens (up to approx. 100mm).
6. Motorised Zoom and Focus
  • Internal Focusing system enables a quick focusing response cross-coupled with the zoom control.
7. Active Athermalization
  • Active Athermal compensation ensures optimal image quality output by virtue of precisely compensating for the drift of back focus distance relative to various temperature profiles and conditions.
