Panasonic System Communications Company Europe (PSCEU) is pleased to announce the addition of the EBL512 G3 and EBL128 systems for fire protection to the Professional Camera Solutions business unit. Over 30 years of experience and designed to accommodate both large and stand alone system requirements, the EBL512 G3 is able to connect 30,600 devices through 30 control panels with 4 detector loops each, whereas the EBL128 is a smaller stand alone loop system which can connect up to 255 devices. Extra components may be incorporated within the system including Fire Brigade Panels and other display units, which may be connected to each control. The fire alarm systems have also been integrated with the WV ASC970 virtual matrix so that fire detectors and cameras can interact. The two systems are connected via TCP/IP using the WEB-server module.

The devices may be any combination of:

  • Analogue smoke & heat detectors
  • Water proof heat detectors
  • Addressable manual call points
  • Addressable short circuit isolators
  • Addressable I/O units (inputs / supervised voltage outputs as well as relay outputs)
  • Addressable sirens / sounder bases
  • Addressable beacons
  • Addressable Intrinsically Safe (IS) detectors
  • Conventional detectors (via I/O units or via expansion boards in the control panel.)

The fire alarm systems have a set of functions that meets the most stringent requirements related to fire detection, fire presentation and measures to be taken.

With the demands on fire alarm systems increasing all the time, manufacturers are being requested to generate fire systems which detect fires earlier in order to save more lives and property, whilst also minimising the nuisance which alarms can cause; particularly if they have a high sensitivity. The system is also exposed to an increasing number of interferences such as mobile phones which it must be able to compensate for to retain system quality and reliability.

The EBL512 G3 and EBL128 from PSCEU are designed to tackle the demands of end-users and overcome potential system faults through the combination of both intelligent control units and intelligent detectors for self-diagnostics, contamination compensation and inter activity within the systems.

The self-diagnostic function detects every deviation from the accurate normal condition in the electronics and in the detection chamber, the inter activity function uses information from one or a series of detectors within the system to provide a more secure detection of a real fire and the contamination compensation is executed through the individually supervised detectors which allow long-term changes such as contamination to be treated differently from short-term changes such as smoke from a smouldering fire and ensure that the sensitivity of each smoke detector is kept constant. Additionally, the state of the art analogue detectors used within the systems gives the control panel accurate and noise free information about the occurrence of smoke and/or temperature changes in the installation.

These unique functionalities are facilitated by a series of complex algorithms which make the systems suitable for almost any environment. Additional algorithms may also be selected from a large number of supported algorithms for customisation of individual analogue detectors. Service signals, alert annunciations and the status of individual detectors, zones and outputs may all be modified to suit the end-user.

For central management, it is possible to view the system status on a PC via the Web-server II connected to an intranet (LAN) or internet, encrypted for safe two-way communication. In the case of a fire alarm or other alert, emails can be sent to the respective personnel. Communication may also be set up one-way with an external computer system for off-site monitoring. The Web-server II hardware can, as an alternative, be used with the OPC512 G3 SW and connected to a PC with the Panasonic FP OPC Server SW for a reliable connection to your industrial applications.
