The latest 5 megapixel image sensor technology ensures brilliant 2 x 3MEGA dual images. Thanks to its enhanced light sensitivity, the camera produces significantly clearer color images also in low light conditions. At night, one single new 5MP black and white sensor can produce live or recorded HiRes images of up to 3.1 megapixel(compared to D14D with 1.3 megapixel).

Smooth HiRes video dtreams

The optimised hardware of the D15 ensures that especially at high resolution, the video streams are transmitted even more smoothly than the already high-performance D14. Since image streams of 16 frames per second and higher are perceived as fluid video by the human eye, the maximum frame rate is limited to 30 fps (when using a MEGA resolution of 1280x960) in order to provide sufficient processor performance for other tasks.

The more light sensitive the image sensor, the higher the image quality, even in low light conditions, such as at dusk or during heavy rain. Thanks to a 5 megapixel color sensor that is four times more light-sensitive than the existing 3.1 megapixel color sensor, the D15 delivers the highest image quality currently offered by MOBOTIX.

The new 5MP technology offers greater maximum zoom than 3.1 megapixel sensors. Image detail is improved by 27 percent. A camera with a 5 megapixel sensor not only produces better images, it can also be positioned even further away from the monitored buildings and areas. As a result, the cameras can be installed in places that are optimally protected from unauthorised access.

Black and white resolution now up to 3.1 megapixel

The new cameras D15, S15, M15 are the world‘s first MOBOTIX cameras that also feature a 5 megapixel night sensor, which produces black and white images of up to 3.1 megapixel. This sensor produces significantly larger images than the current 1.3 megapixel sensor, with the added advantage of improved detail enlargement thanks to the digital zoom feature.

New motion detection sensor

The MxActivitySensor is an activity-controlled, software based image analysis function for detecting movement of people and objects in a monitored area (full image or section). Unlike existing video motion sensors, which detect all events in the defined motion windows, the MxActivitySensor is very easy to configure and delivers reliable results, even in applications with large amounts of external interference. For example, the camera now distinguishes between movements of vehicles, people or objects that trigger an alarm and movements that arenot relevant for alarms, such as shadows, changes in illumination, trees swaying in the wind or rain directly at the lens.

What is detected?

The sensor detects objects or people that cross the defined monitored area or move toward or away from the camera. The MxActivitySensor is available free of charge via a simple firmware update for current MOBOTIX cameras (activation in Web browser).

As decentralised complete video systems, MOBOTIX cameras have much more to offer than conventional network cameras. More flexible selection of lenses

With the M15, one or two separately available MOBOTIX sensor modules (lens plus sensor board and microphone) can be replaced at any time are used in the M15 core camera module. Twelve different sensor modules are available: Six focal lengths from telephoto to hemispheric, each available in day or night versions. With the Day&Night models with day and night sensors, the camera switches off to the appropriate sensor depending on the lighting conditions automatically.

For months hackers had been exploiting a vulnerability in VPN products from Pulse Secure, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, and Citrix. As a result, the problem of attacks died back.  But as companies race to get people working from home, they must ensure special care is taken to ensure the patches are done before switching VPNs on. That’s because remote desktop protocol (RDP) has been for the most part of 2019, and continues to be, the most important attack vector for ransomware. Social engineering Aside from securing VPNs, what else should CIO and CTOs be doing to ensure security? The first thing to do is to look at employee behaviour, starting with passwords. Best practice would be to get all employees to reset their passwords as they connect remotely and force them to choose a new password that complies with strong password complexity guidelines.  As we know, people have a habit of reusing their passwords for one or more online services – services that might have fallen victim to a breach. That’s why CIOs need to remind everyone in the company of the risks of clickbait and comment spamming - the most popular and obvious bot techniques for infiltrating a network. Notorious hacking attempts And as any security specialist will tell you, some people have no ethics and will exploit the horrendous repercussions of CV-19. In January we saw just how unscrupulous hackers are when they started leveraging public fear of the virus to spread the notorious Emotet malware. Emotet, first detected in 2014, is a banking trojan that primarily spreads through ‘malspam’ and attempts to sneak into computers to steal sensitive and private information. In addition, in early February the Maze ransomware crippled more than 230 workstations of the New Jersey Medical Diagnostics Lab and when they refused to pay, the vicious attackers leaked 9.5GB or research data in an attempt to force negotiations. And in March, an elite hacking group tried to breach the World Health Organization (WHO). It was just one of the many attempts on WHO and healthcare organisations in general since the pandemic broke. Spambots are already creating pharmaceutical spam campaigns thriving on the buying behaviour of people in times of fear from infection. Using comment spamming – where comments are tactically placed in the comments following an update or news story - the bots take advantage of the popularity of the Google search term ‘Coronavirus’ to increase the visibility and ranking of sites and products in search results. There is clearly much for CIOs to think about, but it is possible to secure a network by applying some well thought through tactics. I believe it comes down to having a ‘more speed, less haste’ approach to rolling out, scaling up and integrating technologies for home working, but above all, it should be mixed with an employee education programme. As in reality, great technology and a coherent security strategy will never work if it is undermined by the poor practices of employees.
