ASSA ABLOY High Security and Safety Group has been named as the preferred supplier of security solutions for the Intercity Express Project (IEP) and East Coast Open Access (ECOA).

The new IEP trains from Hitachi, which had their first roll out in 2017, have been introduced to replace older fleets with new high-speed trains and improve the current network. Further projects featuring the Hitachi engineering are now also planned across the UK.

Locking systems, emergency access and egress devices

The Group, which is a tier one supplier to the IEP project, has supplied a range of products including locking systems, emergency access and emergency egress devices. Thousands of products have been supplied over the past four years for trains that will be deployed over the whole UK rail network, operated by multiple train operators, replacing trains that were built by British Railways back in the late 1970s.

Following on from the success of the IEP projects, the Group has also been named as preferred supplier for locking systems, emergency access and emergency egress devices for Hitachi’s latest project named East Coast Open Access (ECOA).
