Iraq is opening its doors. The International Security, Safety & Fire Protection Exhibition will take place as the first international security, safety and fire protection exhibition of the region which will be held between 18-21 March 2011 in Basra International Fair Ground Basra, Iraq.
As the first and foremost security event of the region, Iraq SecurExpo 2011 brings together the security sector with an integral focus: safety, protection against acts of aggression, the prevention of fire and any type of emergency situation, as well as the prevention of unmentioned risks. It is an event offering outstanding opportunities to security and service companies in an environment where more security is always welcome.
Iraq SecurExpo 2011 will provide a comprehensive exhibition and plenty of chances to meet security sector professionals. This most important safety and security event in the region is the best possible forum to present products and services in the field, since it is expected to attract large numbers of decision makers.
The threat to property, industrial sites, banks, educational facilities and transportation is rising from all sides in a global scale. Meanwhile, the technical competency of criminals is growing and terrorist activity continues to be a major concern. These factors, along with a more general rise in concern about securing private property, have led to a greater interest in preventative measures. Which is why technologic development in the safety and security field never stops and will always be needed.
After decades of mismanagement, sanctions, and war Iraq's reconstruction and development needs in security and safety sector are significant. Considering Iraq's existing and potential wealth, Iraq is likely to be among the fastest growing and most lucrative mid-sized markets in the world. The expenditures for security in Iraqi baseline budget were around $9 billion in 2008 and $9.6 billion in 2009.
Having organised in the Middle East particularly in Iraq where the security elements have been widely welcomed more than anywhere else, makes IRAQ SECUREXPO 2011 more attractive than the others for the business world.
Strategically located, Basra has four extensive highways, river transportation systems on both the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, a railway linking it to Baghdad, and is connected by air through its international airport. Its global position makes Basra the most important trade center in Iraq.
The city is located along Shatt al-Arab waterway near Persian Gulf, 55 kilometres (34 mi) from Persian Gulf and 545 kilometres (339 mi) from Baghdad, Iraq's capital and largest city.
Oil is key to Basra's economy. Some of Iraq's largest oil fields (Rumaila North, Majnoon, and Rumaila South) are located in Basra province. A majority of Iraq's oil exports leave the country through Basra's ports.
