Nedap's AEOS Provides One Centralized Access Control Platform for University of Nottingham, UK

The University of Nottingham is a public university based in the East Midlands of England. Over the years, the University acquired several systems for access control, creating an expensive and complex system. Leading-edge technology in the form of Nedap's AEOS was deployed by the University, allowing for one single access control platform via one single card system. All 40,000 students and staff now use one unified card for all services including Access control, bus payments, cashless catering and follow-me-printing. Cards are produced off-site by card bureau company ID-ware, and all relevant data is automatically imported in AEOS to allow seamless management of cards. The University also decided to have the extra AEOS functionality Rule Engine, which allows fully automated authorisation management based on pre-defined rules. The details of a person's profile come directly from the University's student and staff databases, which allows fast and easy changes to authorisation rights by updating a single system. Nedap's AEOS provided all the functionalities the University was looking for. The University is now able to effectively manage access of its staff and students in its buildings, maintaining a secure environment for all.
