HID

HID Global, a worldwide provider of trusted identity solutions, announced it has been conferred as a winner of Hardware - Transportation award at the SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2020, an industry award organised by the Singapore Business Review to recognise companies that have made exceptional contribution and significant business impact through the innovative use of IT solutions and initiatives in Singapore.

The award was handed out in recognition of the speed and reliability of HID’s Lumidigm sensors, which were deployed by the traffic branch of the Singapore Police Force as part of an electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) system to verify the identities of driver’s licence applicants.

Fingerprint imaging technology

The HID Lumidigm V-Series Fingerprint Sensors, which feature HID’s patented multispectral fingerprint imaging technology, have significantly improved the speed and efficiency of identity verification as compared to the previous paper-based process, and diminished the risk of fraudsters compromising the eKYC system.

HID Global’s patented multispectral fingerprint imaging technology captures unique characteristics from the finger’s surface and subsurface, which is particularly important for the Singapore Police Force’s eKYC system because it serves a large population spanning many ages, ethnicities and skin types.

Extended access technologies

We are excited to receive this award for a solution that has the best standard of fingerprint technology"

“We are excited to receive this award for a solution that has the best standard of fingerprint technology. HID Global is the leading worldwide company that has major fingerprint technologies (capacitive, optical, and multispectral) under single umbrella”, said Sujan Parthasaradhi, Director of Biometric Applications, India subcontinent and Middle East, Extended Access Technologies with HID Global.

“We are committed to deliver our customers, flawless security and enhanced convenience with excellent user experience.”

Captured biometric data

The technology works reliably with normal, wet, dirty, dry or damaged fingers, in sunlight, wet or cold conditions, which is critical for Singapore Police Force’s eKYC system as it serves a large population spanning different skin types, professions, ages and ethnicities.

The field-updatable liveness detection also distinguishes whether the captured biometric data is from a real living person or a plastic, fake or other artificial fingerprint copies. Lumidigm multispectral fingerprint V-series sensors are also one of the first fingerprint sensors to be certified to ISO/IEC 30107-3 Presentation Attack Detection (PAD) standard focused on liveness detection and anti-spoofing.
