Secutech Excellence Awards aim to reveal trends and technical progress in IP surveillance

The winners of the 2013 Secutech Excellence Awards were announced at the 16th edition of Secutech which was held from 24 – 26 April 2013 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Centre, Taiwan.

Secutech, an annual international exhibition and conference for the electronic security, info security, fire & safety sectors was organised by Messe Frankfurt New Era Business Media Ltd. It attracted 510 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions as well as 25,807 professional visitors from 100 countries and regions.

One of the show highlights was the Secutech Excellence Awards, which aimed to reveal the trends and technical progress in IP surveillance. There were 25 entries and from these, six products received the IP Camera Excellence Award, and three products were given the NVR Excellence Award. The winning products were:

The awards were judged by six international industry experts from Taiwan, Brazil, Spain and South Africa, while 284 international visitors also voted for their favourite products at Secutech show on-site.

One of the members of the judge panel, Mr Rafael Carmisin Duarte from Brazil, representing Intelbras, commented on the IP camera and NVR industry award entries and their improved user friendliness, he said: “All were remarkable. They deserve everyone’s attention and all finalists should be proud of themselves.” Tunisian visitor Mr Nidhal Jerbi, Manager for Multicom, was one of the international visitors who took part in the award voting. “The Secutech Excellence Awards display area was a very good idea. It provided different product information so I could compare and choose the products I want,” he said. Multicom is one of the leading distributors of Samsung, Brickcom, and Honeywell in Tunisia.

Representing the show organiser, Mr Parson Lee, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt New Era Business Media Ltd said he was satisfied with the quality of products entered for the award. He added: “We are glad to see that many products continued to show improvement and I am expecting to see even more innovative and advanced products at next year’s awards.”

Mr Lee and the judges also revealed the key improvements of IP megapixel cameras. These include the functions of facial recognition, ABF (auto back focus) and self-diagnosis, as well as larger storage capacity.
