Milestone systems releases Device Pack 9.9 update for XProtect VMS to support new hardware

Milestone Systems, the provider of open platform networked video management Systems, releases Device Pack 9.9 for partners and customers using Milestone XProtect video solutions. The bi-monthly device packs contain software updates for XProtect VMS to support new hardware. 209 new devices have been added to this release, bringing the total of supported devices to more than 7,500. Milestone works closely with device manufacturers in the Milestone community to achieve optimal interaction between their devices and XProtect VMS. The same rigorous testing applies to driver standards like ONVIF - a priority for Milestone. Authentication of devices Automated retrieval of recordings from devices with edge storage is another new featureThis Device Pack has a particular focus on cybersecurity for ONVIF. Support has been added for more types of security certificates. This enables better authentication of devices. Automated retrieval of recordings from devices with edge storage is another new feature, primarily aimed at body worn cameras. When a body worn camera is docked, XProtect can detect it and download high-quality video recordings from the device’s internal storage. Enhanced security mechanism Before ONVIF-supported devices are listed in the supported hardware list, they have been tested to ensure 100% functionality with the XProtect open platform technology. This enables the Milestone community to pick the best devices for their end-customers, from the market’s broadest selection. They can be assured of the functionality of any supported device. We have added support for SRTP to Bosch cameras, with an enhanced security mechanismWe have added support for SRTP to Bosch cameras. Secure Real-Time Protocol (Secure RTP or SRTP) is an extension of the RTP protocol, with an enhanced security mechanism. It provides encryption, authentication and integrity verification of data and messages passed through the RTP-based communication protocol. Intelligent Axis cameras We have increased XProtect support for intelligent Axis cameras: we have expanded event-detection in selected camera models, enabling users to use a wider range of events in XProtect. Extended support for Axis Camera Application Platform has also been enabled in XProtect 2018 R3, Milestone’s last Product Update this year. Several models of Hanwha X-Lite cameras and encoders are now fully supported. The efficient H265 video compression has been added to the support of Soliton body worn cameras.

Bosch Building Technologies protects Adana Integrated Health Campus with BIS IP video surveillance system

Completed in 2017, the Adana Integrated Health Campus is a state-of-the-art hospital complex in Turkey comprising three specialised clinics with a total capacity of 1,550 beds. Located in Adana - the country’s fifth-largest city - the over 318,000 square-meter facility is a public-private partnership project realised in cooperation with the Ministry of Health to serve patient populations from the surrounding Adana, Hatay and Osmaniye provinces. The Adana Integrated Health Campus prides itself in offering the highest level of care through specialised physicians and advanced equipment. The Main Hospital offers an Oncology Hospital as well as a Cardiology and Cardiovascular Hospital with a 367 bed capacity. The Maternity & Pediatrics Hospital have 349 beds and the General Hospital 584 beds. Before opening to the public, the project already won several awards, including Best Healthcare Project and World’s Largest Seismic Isolated Health Campus. IP-based video surveillance system When it came to choosing a security and safety solution for their high-profile health facility, officials in Adana wanted to integrate the most advanced hardware on a single platform covering four areas: video surveillance, access control, fire alarm plus public address and voice alarm. Bosch won the contract as the one-stop provider with the capacity to unify all systems via its Building Integration System (BIS) through different interfaces. The installation was completed by the Bosch partner Ateksis. The IP-based video surveillance system consists of 2,000 cameras for monitoring critical indoor and outdoor areas Due to the size and complexity of the modern campus, this level of integration proved a true test for the Bosch Building Integration System (BIS). The IP-based video surveillance system consists of 2,000 cameras for monitoring critical indoor and outdoor areas such as entrances and corridors. Managed on the Bosch Video Management System (BVMS), live feeds from high-definition FLEXIDOME, DINION IP starlight, and AUTODOME IP starlight cameras are monitored on-site through a single control room. Providing fire safety, BIS controls roughly 45,000 detection points, including 30,000 fire detectors, plus manual call points and interface modules across the campus. Use of RFID tags to prevent baby kidnapping For an extra level of integration, the hospital’s telephone switchboard is integrated into the public address and voice alarm system via BIS to enable public announcement and/or fire alarms from the nurse desks for immediate evacuation of patients and their relatives. And to safeguard the Maternity Clinic against ‘pink code’ cases (baby kidnapping), the Bosch access control integrates RFID tags on newborn babies to trigger alarms. By implementing a complete solution on a single platform from the start, Adana Integrated Health Campus sets the standard for exemplary patient safety in a system marked by low overall cost of ownership, maintenance costs, and failure rate. In the bigger picture, the state-of-the-art campus proves the end-to-end capabilities of Bosch Building Technologies and serves as a showcase for the next level of healthcare and integrated security.

Connected Technologies and Bosch integration facilitates intrusion detection and access control services from a single interface

The cloud is an enabling technology that brings new opportunity to security dealers and integrators and a way to provide popular services to customers in every market vertical. A seamless integration between Bosch B and G Series Control Panels and Connect ONE by Connected Technologies LLC makes it simple for dealers to add intrusion detection and access control services from a single panel while using one interface to manage every customer. Bosch-Connected Tech integration “We’re excited to be working with Connected Technologies to offer this service to our dealers, whose feedback has been extremely positive as they continue to add customers,” said Tom Mechler, Regional Marketing Manager for Bosch. “This integration provides a complete intrusion and access control service along with mobile credentialing.” Mike Simon, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Connected Technologies said Connect ONE enhances the Bosch panels, which are great platforms for dealers to offer value add services and increase their monthly recurring revenue streams. The integration between Bosch panels and Connect ONE allows dealers to customise services that meet their business goals and customer’s needs" Bosch Panels and Connect ONE “The integration between Bosch panels and Connect ONE allows dealers to customise services that meet their business goals and customer’s needs—from residential to both small and large commercial projects,” said Simon. “It’s a complete, robust platform for intrusion and access control, with no need for a separate access control panel or hardware. Given the industry’s ongoing challenge in finding skilled technicians, it also allows dealers to standardise with Bosch panels, which is extremely important for training and inventory control.” Remote Connect Cloud Service Connect ONE also works in conjunction with the Remote Connect Cloud Service from Bosch, offering cloud-based connectivity to its B and G Series intrusion panels for remote programming and end-user app connectivity. This capability makes it easier to connect and program control panels without extensive IT experience or dedicated IT personnel. Remote Connect Cloud Service eliminates the need to change customer router settings, incoming firewall rules or use Domain Name Service (DNS) to access the systems remotely. Connect One customers can easily add and delete codes and multiple locations can be seamlessly managed, viewed and controlled all simultaneously on one screen.
