Videotec continues to focus on customer satisfaction by applying the 'lean-thinking' method

Published on 27 June 2008

Videotec applies the famous Japanese orientated 'lean-thinking' method to the companyIn January 2008, Videotec's management decided to start the process aimed at applying the famous, Japanese originated, ‘lean-thinking' method to company organisation.  The final goal is to increase business flexibility by reorganising the entire value creation cycle, that is, from design to production.

The ambitious project is supported by one of the most important management consultants in Italy specialising in application of the lean-thinking method.  It has already taken in the logistics-production and technical areas, with the aim of reducing the various process and flow times.  This is a real revolution because it implies re-thinking business processes in terms of both reorganisation of space and review of behaviour by all members of the work teams.

There has been total staff acceptance of the project: initial resistance to change gave way to enthusiasm and agreement with the new methods in just a short space of time, leading to greater flexibility and productivity.

The project interim report, which was recently presented to management, shows that the results obtained at this initial stage have already exceeded expectations and in the space of a few months the performance of the areas involved has changed, achieving better synchronisation with the unrelenting changes in market demand and, at the same time, improving customer service.
