Lumidigm recently announced that Invixium’s new IXM SENSE access control reader delivers an unparalleled end user experience by combining multispectral fingerprint imaging technology supplied by Lumidigm coupled with Invixium’s sophisticated matching algorithm which delivers 10,000 matches per second. It is the industry’s first biometric product using Android OS (Jelly Bean) and an integrated presence detection sensor. IXM SENSE also boasts an IP65 rating, power over ethernet (PoE), multiple smart and proximity card options, and other advanced features.
“In our pursuit of integrating only trusted technologies, selecting Lumidigm sensors was a natural choice,” exclaims Shiraz Kapadia, Invixium CEO and President. “As we launch Invixium products globally, we continually receive astonishing feedback from the industry about our product designs and plethora of unique features.”
“Invixium products are meticulously crafted for a rich feel and the software is very intuitive,” adds Bill Spence, Lumidigm Vice President of Sales for North America, Europe and Australia. “The company has gone out of its way to assure that it is using best-of-breed technologies, including multispectral imaging for fingerprint capture.”
Multispectral imaging is a sophisticated technology specifically developed by Lumidigm to overcome the fingerprint capture problems that conventional imaging systems have in less-than-ideal conditions. This more effective technology is based on the use of multiple spectrums of light and advanced optical techniques to extract unique fingerprint characteristics from both the surface and subsurface of the skin. That subsurface capability is important because the fingerprint ridges seen on the surface of the finger have their foundation beneath the surface of the skin, in the capillary beds and other sub-dermal structures.
Presence detect is a unique feature in IXM SENSE. This feature informs the biometric sensor and the processor that a user is in proximity of the device and instructs the sensor and other user authentication related components and services to turn on. This intelligent feature reduces power consumption and increases sensor life. In addition, leaving the device “dark” when not in use also reduces vandalism when the reader is located outside, such as at a front entrance.
Powering Invixium devices over PoE dramatically reduces the cost of ownership, while still providing lightning fast communication. The headache of requiring AC power is eliminated, providing reliability, remote network control and power cycling and the freedom to choose the most optimal installation location without running extra wires or cables.
Installation of Invixium biometric readers is fast and easy. Products can be installed start to finish in less than ten minutes.
