An iPhone application called The Bosch DVR Viewer App has been released and is now available on the iTunes app store. The Bosch DVR Viewer lets you watch video or still images from cameras connected to a Bosch Video Recorder 440/480 and 600 Series located in homes, offices or businesses, from anywhere in the world. In addition, the app can even control the focus, pan, tilt and zoom on selected PTZ cameras.

Moxa’s new OBU-102 fibre optical bypass unit prevents network failures

Moxa´s new fibre optical bypass unit OBU-102 adds bypass relay functionality to any network node. In linear topologies, a single power outage or node failure can take out an entire chunk of the network, because communications to all the network nodes further down the line are also cut. With relay bypass, that node is instead simply bypassed in the event of a failure, and the rest of the network is unaffected.

The OBU-102 sits between a node and the network to add bypass relay functionality to any network switches that do not already support this important function. In normal operations, the OBU-102 simply acts as a gateway that forwards network traffic to and from the network switch. However, if power is lost, the OBU-102 will bypass the unpowered switch and simply pass network traffic to the next switch in the relay. As part of Sony’s continuing effort to bring IP technology into the world of video production, Sony has developed the NXL-IP55, a video network unit that can transfer multiple HD image signals, audio signals and control signals over a single network cable. These units may be used, for example, when filming in a theatre or stadium, whereby images are transmitted simultaneously from multiple cameras with as minimal delay time as possible. The NXL-IP55 can keep latency to within a single field while sending data streams from multiple cameras over the network cable.

Live multi-camera HD production typically requires image transmission through coaxial cables that are compliant with the serial digital interface (HD-SDI), together with numerous other cables to carry syncing and control signals.
