|SWI’s Secure Cities provides platform for brainstorming on latest issues of city security as part of internal and national security of India
Security Watch India’s flagship event ‘Secure Cities’ would hold this year’s program on 10th and 11th of September, 2014 at Hotel Le-Meridien, New Delhi. Over the last few years, SWI’s ‘Secure Cities’ event has strived to provide the ideal platform for bringing in academia, industry and the government for brainstorming on the latest issues of city security as part of the overall paradigm of internal security and national security of India. The program, over the last few years, have got incredible response in terms of the number of security technology companies as well as representatives of law enforcement agencies participating in the event.
Over the last few years, the issues of city security as well as related issues of critical infrastructure protection have become real matters of concern given the increasing incidences of attacks on city installations and critical infrastructure installations globally. With the worsening situation in Middle East and emergence of powerful terror organizations like ISIS in Middle East, the threat to cities and industrial clusters from global terror organizations have only become more complex and profound.
For countries like India, which have witnessed a considerable number of terror attacks on its cities in the past, the issue of worsening global security environment as well as the increasing geopolitical and security instability in neighbouring countries like Pakistan are real causes of concern.
The issues related securities of cities today have complex interdependence and relation with border security, strong enforcement on issues related to counterfeit currencies and drug syndicates as well as issues related to technological innovations and applications for more effective surveillance of India’s cities. With rising instances of atrocities on women, security India’s cities also mean making cities secure and safe for India’s women.
The Secure Cities Conference, like always, would endeavour to bring industry leaders, policy makers and thought leaders to brainstorm on emerging and present threats and on how to effectively use available technologies for better surveillance and for increasing the operational efficiency of the law enforcement agencies.
