With an extensive range of new features in areas that include identity management, usability, interoperability and reporting, SiPass integrated MP2.5 from Security Products from Siemens is setting new standards for access control systems. This new and enhanced system is the latest development in the well-proven and widely used SiPass product range, and is an ideal choice to meet even the most demanding of requirements for future-proof high-end access control in organisations of all sizes.
Among the new identity management features offered by SiPass integrated MP2.5 are multiple card support, which allows up to five cards to be assigned to each individual registered on the system; an option that allows cardholders to be assigned to multiple workgroups; a page designer with which users can create custom cardholder pages with simple drag-and-drop techniques, and an advanced cardholder search option that allows information to be retrieved quickly and easily regardless of the search criteria.
The functionality of the new package has also been enhanced in the area of report generation, with support now included for producing unused card lists and T&A (time and attendance) reports. In addition, watch lists from almost any source can be readily imported and used to generate a warning should an attempt be made to enrol a cardholder who matches any of the criteria on the list.
Recognising the need for and benefits of integration between the various elements of building security and building management installations, Siemens has provided SiPass integrated MP2.5 with advanced interoperability options. For example, integration with digital video recorders has been enhanced, and the system now offers support for live video streaming from IP cameras and a built-in multi-video stream player. Another unique benefit is integration with Salto offline doors, which allows the control of online and offline doors to be combined in a single security management system.
While SiPass integrated MP2.5 offers extensive functionality and flexibility, Siemens has also ensured that the system is easy to install and use. To this end, it features customisable real time transaction logs, auto-discovery of controllers, and custom toolbars, along with many other novel usability features. In addition, the new version of SiPass Installer allows the complete installation to be visualised quickly and easily.
Future proofing, in the form of support for the latest technologies, has also been given careful attention, and SiPass integrated MP2.5 is fully compatible with Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008. It also incorporates GSM modem support, which enables messages to be forwarded via the mobile telephone network.
