Dubai Civil Aviation purchases GE Security CTX 9000 explosives detection systems

Dubai deployment of GE CTX adds to growing number of advanced technology inline explosives screening systems protecting Middle East airports and air travellers.

GE Security Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of General Electric Company today announced sale of CTX 9000 advanced technology explosives detection systems to Dubai Civil Aviation in a contract valued at more than $9 million.  The systems will be deployed at Dubai International Airport's terminal three later this year. 

Recognized for its high performance and throughput rate, the GE Security CTX 9000 DSi system represents the latest in CTX^™ technology.  Designed to integrate with airport baggage handling systems, the CTX 9000 DSi system is TSA-certified and can help customers operating in fast-paced airport environments.  It is currently the highest operational throughput explosives detection system designed for BHS integration and its meter-wide conveyor belt and large tunnel opening can accommodate both large and standard-size bags.

Commenting on Dubai International Airport's latest security system acquisition, Khalifa Al Zaffin, director, Engineering Projects Directorate at the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation said, "Dubai International Airport is committed to provide the best services to its passengers, while maintaining the highest level of security.  We believe the new equipment will enable us to achieve these goals."

Designed for ease of operation and service, with multiplexing capabilities and a low false alarm rate, the TSA-certified CTX 9000 DSi system can be an excellent investment for high-volume airports.  Its advanced technology helps customers identify some of the most challenging substances in aviation security.

The Dubai Civil Aviation purchase contract was secured with the assistance of the GE Security Homeland Protection distributor in the United Arab Emirates, International Aeradio Emirates LLC (IAL), a subsidiary of United Kingdom-based SERCO Group plc, one of the world's leading service companies.  IAL will also participate in deploying and providing life-cycle support for these CTX systems.
