Increased personal security concerns boost demand for high security locks

Published on 3 August 2007

Largely unheard of before the 2002 release of the Jodie Foster-starring thriller with the similar name, panic rooms are becoming increasingly popular domestic security features with UK celebrities and the super rich.

Security consultants representing a number of high profile sports and entertainment celebrities approached Adams Rite's Tina Ainsworth recently, enquiring about the potential application of the company's HS range of ultra-high security locks in panic rooms for their clients' residences.

"Until now it had been mainly architectural ironmongers, wholesalers and distributors who came to Adams Rite for high performance locks from our HS range," commented Adams Rite's marketing manager Tina Ainsworth.

"I knew specifiers were an important audience, but before this recent enquiry I hadn't appreciated quite how varied and interesting the range of applications is for high security locks.  Perhaps there should be a show especially for security consultants to the stars?" concluded Tina.

Manufactured to the highest standard, the HS range of locks from Adams Rite has an Access Control function and can withstand physical attack without compromising health and safety.  There is also optional bolt and lock monitoring, while the HS110 and HS120 models have successfully been included in a fire test to BS EN 1125 (Panic exit) and BS EN 179 (Emergency exit) standards.
