Creek Nation Casino chooses DVTel NVMS to provide Advanced Security Management

Published on 12 September 2005

Casino saves millions through ease of integration and installation

DVTel Inc., multiple award-winning market leader in delivering integrated IP security solutions for surveillance and monitoring, today announced that the Muscogee Creek Nation of Oklahoma has installed the DVTel Network Video Management System in their Tulsa Creek Nation Casino, one of Oklahoma’s premier gaming destinations.  The network video system manages approximately 420 cameras covering the entire casino complex. System installation was managed by the Muscogee Nation Business Enterprise (MNBE), Technology Services’ Fire & Security Group led by Technology Services Division Manager John Pritchard.

The casino is completing a 34,500 square foot expansion and renovation, managed by MNBE’s Construction Division, and upgrading security was an important part of the improvements.  Prior to installing a networked video management system, the casino’s outdated VCRs did not provide adequate search capabilities and image quality was poor.  The Creek Nation Gaming Board decided to go digital and, in cooperation with MNBE, they spent one year researching a wide range of potential systems before deciding on the DVTel NVMS.  In the final analysis, the DVTel solution offered the flexibility, versatility, and performance the casino needed.

We’ve upgraded our video monitoring system with DVTel to provide better protection for our customers, to make our security operators more efficient, and to ensure better customer service,” said Roger Barnett, of the Muskogee (Creek) Nation National Counsel.  "If there is ever a dispute in the casino, we can locate and review the incident in a matter of minutes and resolve any problems or misunderstandings.  We’ve been pleased with the DVTel system and the company’s professionalism and commitment to ensuring we got the best system for our needs

Using DVTel’s encoder technology, MNBE was able to integrate all existing analog cameras and complete installation quickly, without ever closing the casino.  “Every other system we looked at would have required closing the casino to complete installation,” said John Pritchard.  “DVTel saved the Creek Nation Tulsa Casino millions of dollars in revenue because we never had to shut the doors.”   The system also alleviates the need to maintain 60-70 DVRs and provides fail-over protection against losing monitoring or recording.

The DVTel NVMS offers the casino a considerably smaller footprint and the flexibility to move cameras and install new cameras as needs arise.  Live monitoring is done at client stations and operators utilize keyboards with joysticks all integrated into and controlled by the NVMS.  Most cameras are recorded at 30 fps, as required by the National Indian Gaming Commission, and stored utilizing a NexSan system.

Eli Gorovici, DVTel President and CEO, commented, “The Creek Nation Casino clearly demonstrates our competitive advantage: no other system offered them the flexibility of hardware choice, the scalability, and the ease of installation. These end users benefits and our superior functionality are very important for the casino industry.  That’s why we’ve seen a dramatic increase to our casino installations over the last year.”

MNBE’s installation has proven that DVTel provides the tools necessary to provide seamless integration at a fair price.  Michael Nalley and John Pritchard, project managers from the inception, have provided the casino with peace of mind without sacrificing quality.
