Derwent IR reveals wildlife secrets online

Published on 23 July 2007

The Web Broadcast Corporation is using Derwent's infrared illuminators to enable live webcam broadcasts of some of Britain's most elusive nocturnal animals.  Red squirrels, pine martins and badgers are among the species filmed in the dead of night in their wild habitats, and broadcast live on http://www.wildlifetv.co.uk, thanks to Derwent IR.

The Web Broadcasting Corporation streams real-time live video from all over the world, for both educational and entertainment viewing.  The company works with local organisations to stream images from major attractions and places of interest.

Colin Meadows, who set up the company seven years ago, says Derwent's UF500 and UFLED illuminators have proved the ideal solution to night filming.

"These lamps provide excellent covert illumination for our cameras and allow us to show images of animals in the wild which few people have ever seen before.  There is a great deal of interest in the hidden lives of our native species and this night vision technology is helping to open up whole new worlds to our viewers."
