Network Rail gets security on track with Bosch Allegiant

Network Rail selects Allegiant product for its CCTV application to provide a safe, reliable, and efficient railway
Network Rail, the owner and manager of Great Britain's rail infrastructure, will use a host of Bosch's Allegiant Matrix Switchers and Accessories in its latest CCTV application.

Network Rail owns and maintains 20,000 miles of tracks and infrastructure, thousands of bridges and tunnels, and 17 of the largest and busiest railway stations in Great Britain, which 800 million visitors pass through each year.

The mission of Network Rail is to "provide a safe, reliable, and efficient railway," and Network Rail saw the Allegiant product line as the way to deliver this mission. Network rail purchased several Allegiant CPUs (LTC 8200, 8300, 8500, and 8800), along with a host of support and accessory products, including receiver drivers, code translators, a digital video quad processor, and keyboard.

Network Rail believes that CCTV installations are proven deterrents against crime and also provide vital evidence that can assist in the successful prosecution of offenders. In addition, Network Rail sees CCTV installations as an early warning system for incidents at the platform train interface, or slips, trips, and falls.

In the future, Network Rail plans to use monitors at station entrances - showing CCTV images to heighten public awareness of surveillance throughout the stations.
