Axis enjoys success at IFSEC 2007

Published on 26 June 2007

Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, has reported record attendance levels at its stand at the IFSEC exhibition during May.

Axis had its most successful IFSEC exhibition yet, with visitor numbers substantially higher than at any other previous year.  At the stand visitors were showing great interest in Axis' three new megapixel network cameras, launched at IFSEC, including the AXIS 211M, a 1.3 megapixel network camera which uses megapixel resolution in MPEG-4 and Motion JPEG streams to achieve video surveillance with exceptional image detail.

Continuing to meet the growing demands of the dome camera market, AXIS launched two new megapixel dome network cameras.  The AXIS 216MFD and AXIS 216MFD-V feature a 1.3 megapixel sensor with progressive scan, which reduces motion blur in comparison with traditional PAL/NTSC cameras providing interlaced video.  The standard AXIS 216MFD version offers a tamper-resistant plastic cover, suitable for indoor video surveillance, whereas AXIS 216MFD-V features a rugged, vandal-resistant casing with a metal base specifically adapted for indoor environments subject to vandalism.

The recently released AXIS 233D Professional Network Dome Camera, boasting 35x optical zoom, 12x digital zoom with progressive scan and a host of new features received a great response with near constant requests for demonstrations.

The fourth new network camera, the AXIS 215 PTZ included a recently introduced auto-flip feature that reverses the pan direction whenever the camera reaches the mechanical stop at 180°, taking about one second to perform the ‘flip'.  Auto-flip means the AXIS 215 PTZ has no blind spots and is suitable for mounting in the centre of the ceiling.

Axis also reported brisk attendance at its own seminar programme, which included twenty free seminars hosted by Axis and its partners.  In addition Axis participated in the main IFSEC seminar programme, where they were featured twice.  Axis teamed up with leading partners Genetec, Proxima and Via Sys within their stand and highlighted their partnership with 47 other exhibitors at IFSEC.

Steve Gorski, managing director, Axis Communications (UK) Ltd, commented, "IFSEC again demonstrates that it is the premier security exhibition - our stand was at full capacity for nearly all of the four days.  The feedback from visitors to the Axis stand was excitement at the ever-growing range of network cameras and more enquiries from resellers and integrators building in network video into the upcoming projects."
