Axis to introduce a host of new IP-Surveillance products at IFSEC 2007

Published on 29 March 2007

Axis Communications, the global leader in the network video market , will be introducing a range of new network video products at IFSEC 2007 (Hall 20, stand 15045), giving all visitors the opportunity to investigate the latest developments in IP-Surveillance.

Axis will be demonstrating its new revolutionary video encoder - the AXIS 247S Video Server - at IFSEC this year.  The AXIS 247S Video Server converts one stream of analogue video into high quality, full frame rate Motion JPEG or MPEG-4 video.  The fact that the AXIS 247S Video Server is powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE) and also supplies power up into analogue cameras through PoE makes this product unique in the market today.

The recently launched AXIS 233D Network Dome Camera will also be on display.  Aimed at the professional user, it is the world's first network dome camera with progressive scan.  It also features 35 times' optical zoom and a maximum pan/tilt/zoom speed of 450 degrees per second.

Axis will also be showing its AXIS 12 blade video server-based solution that includes a 19-inch rack, the AXIS 291 1U Video Server Rack, with a built-in Gigabit switch and space for up to three AXIS 243Q Blade Video Servers.   Each AXIS 243Q can convert signals from up to 12 analogue video cameras, enabling users to remotely access digital video at full frame rate over an IP network.  The solution is ideal for use in casinos, airports and traffic monitoring, and wherever there is a need to migrate an analogue video system to a high performance, digital solution.

Axis will also be adding to its family of megapixel cameras; demonstrating its new video management software; and showcasing cutting-edge applications from a range of Axis Application Development Partners.

As the appeal of network video widens, Axis is also launching a new programme designed to help IT consultants reap the benefits of network video.  Axis plans to hold seminars explaining the benefits of network video to the consultancy community.

Steve Gorski, managing director, Axis Communications (UK) Ltd, commented:

"Axis will be unveiling new products and beginning closer dialogue with the consultant community at IFSEC this year.  As the benefits of network video are being realised by several major corporates we are now seeing a huge opportunity for sales into major infrastructure projects but to be selected for these larger contracts we need to be talking to the consultant community which wins, specifies and subcontracts much of this work.  This is one important area of communications focus for us over the next year or two."

Steve Gorski is also due to present two Axis success stories at the show. The first is from Hughes & Hughes, the Eire-based book retailer.  Hughes & Hughes recently installed Axis network cameras throughout its books stores in Dublin Airport, in order to cut insurance fraud, thefts and support senior management decision-making.  The presentation will be held at 1.45PM on Wednesday 23rd May 2007 at the show.  The second is about the Stockholm Transport deployment which will take place at 12-12:30PM on Thursday 24th May.
