Axis introduces new generation of network video products at IFSEC 2008

Published on 7 April 2008

AXIS P-3301 network cameraAxis Communications, the global leader in the network video market, will be introducing a range of new generation network video products at IFSEC 2008 (Hall 20, stand 15045) with the first chance in Europe to see two new network cameras and two new video encoders which support the latest H.264 compression technology.

Axis will be demonstrating its new generation of network video products on its stand at IFSEC 2008, with a range of products, which support H.264 compression technology.  Using H.264, storage and bandwidth requirements can be reduced by more than 80% compared to Motion JPEG and as much as 50% compared with MPEG-4 Part 2 standard, all without compromising image quality.

Two new network cameras, which support H.264, make their European debut at IFSEC.  The AXIS P3301 Network Dome camera is a fixed dome designed for unobtrusive video surveillance in sensitive indoor environments.  Offering superior image quality, it incorporates progressive scan and wide dynamic range technology with the camera providing crisp and clear images in both illuminated and low light areas.  The camera can produce multiple H.264 streams plus Motion JPEG streams either in full frame rate or individually optimised for different quality needs and bandwidth constraints.  Axis has also announced the AXIS P3301-V featuring vandal-resistant casing.  Both cameras can utilise Power over Ethernet.

In addition, two new video encoders incorporating H.264 compression technology will be demonstrated at IFSEC - the AXIS Q7401 Video Encoder and AXIS Q7406 Video Encoder Blade, which support one and six analogue channels respectively.  These encoders enable analogue cameras to be integrated into a powerful IP-based video surveillance system.  A new 19-inch rack solution, the AXIS Q7900, holds up to 14 hot-swappable video encoder blades and can support up to 84 analogue cameras offering one of the industry's highest density rack solutions.

The AXIS Q7401 and AXIS Q7406 incorporate an encoder for H.264 to reduce bandwidth and storage demands without compromising image quality.  Both encoders can provide multiple, individually configurable video streams, and also support Power over Ethernet to allow both the encoder and the analogue camera to be powered via the network cable.

Axis will also be demonstrating a new range of accessories to support Axis network cameras, all designed to overcome installation challenges caused by weather, lighting conditions or physical obstructions.  These accessories include two new weather-proof dome housings - AXIS T95A00 and AXIS T95A10, designed to accompany Axis' PTZ network cameras, plus a range of mounting brackets for wall, corner or pole installations.AXIS Q7401 video encoder

Where installers face inadequate lighting, Axis has also introduced the AXIS T90A series of infrared and white light illuminators with various distance and light projection capabilities.

On the Axis stand, visitors can also discover a host of applications from Axis' partners to offer the complete IP-surveillance solution. Axis partners including Genetec with IP applications across access control, video surveillance, and number plate recognition, also wireless specialist Proxim and alarm sensor manufacturer VIA SYS.

Stand visitors are welcome to attend Axis seminars in the presentation area of the Axis stand, with topics including ‘Total cost of ownership for a video surveillance solution' and ‘Benefits of H.264 compression'.

Axis is also participating in the IFSEC 2008 seminar programme, with a seminar presented by Richard Cronin from RPC Consultants.  Richard will be explaining how IP-surveillance using Axis network cameras has helped this retail customer to transform the management of Douglas Court shopping centre in Cork.  Richard's presentation will be held at the Technology and Innovation seminar area, Hall 18, Stand 20200, on Tuesday 13th May 10.30-11.00am.

Steve Gorski, managing director, Axis Communications (UK) Ltd, commented:  "Axis will be a huge presence at this year's IFSEC with our largest stand to date and a whole range of new generation network video products.  The introduction of H.264 compression technology opens up a new chapter for network video as we give end-users more flexibility to achieve their surveillance goals with superb image quality, higher resolutions and frame rates at lower bandwidth.  With our new network cameras, video servers and accessories we know that our stand will be the one to visit at IFSEC 2008."
