G4S and Milestone Systems announce collaborations

Published on 19 November 2007

Milestone Systems, one of the leading companies in IP-based video surveillance software, has entered into a new distribution agreement with Group 4 Securicor (G4S) in Denmark to continue developing its sales channel.

G4S Denmark is part of the world's largest security company, Group 4 Securicor, with 500,000 employees in more than 100 countries, and Milestone's powerful XProtect™ IP video management software is now an important part of the company's product offerings.

The agreement in Denmark follows similar agreements between Milestone Systems and G4S in Belgium, France and Luxembourg.  The Nordic collaboration, effective as of November 2007, gives more than 80,000 Danish G4S customers the opportunity to replace traditional analogue systems with a more powerful, easy-to-manage and cost-effective digital surveillance platform.

One advantage of a Milestone IP-network based solution is the ability to use megapixel cameras, which greatly improve image quality compared to analogue cameras.  In addition, Milestone XProtect IP video management software is an open platform that can integrate with other business systems like access control, Point-of-Sale or Automatic Teller Machines, for even greater security and lower operating costs.

"We consider the collaboration with Milestone as an investment in the future that will enable us to gain market share in a growing industry.  From a technical point of view, it keeps us at the forefront of IP-based solutions.  Our sales team has been trained and certified in Milestone XProtect, and we are ready to put every ounce of energy into it," says Kim Egelund Hansen, Procurement Manager at G4S Denmark.

Prepared for digital challenges

With this new agreement, G4S takes a giant leap into the market for digital video surveillance.  The security market holds great potential: the turnover for IP video management software alone is estimated to reach more than 480 million USD in 2010, according to IMS Research.

"We are strengthening our sales channel in Denmark and will reach more customers.  G4S Denmark is now a certified partner and can use this expertise to develop advanced digital security solutions with XProtect.  The advantage of our software is that it is based on an open and future-proof platform that allows integration and provides a higher return on investment," says Mads Bo Frederiksen, Territory Sales Manager at Milestone Systems.
