Giving businesses the edge

Published on 2 May 2007

Building controls specialist TAC has launched EnergyEdge, a comprehensive energy-saving programme aimed at helping businesses deliver a competitive edge through reduced operating costs, improved building performance and environments and greater employee productivity.

The program is unique in that it promises to help make energy savings at zero cost, on the same day that the assessment is carried out. TAC believes most employers could save 20 per cent from their current utility bills.

Although most businesses would benefit from installing systems to help monitor and manage energy usage on an ongoing basis, TAC says in many cases, employers do not even need to buy new equipment.

Paul Burley, UK Support Director at TAC, said: "Aging and inefficient equipment costs companies billions of pounds worldwide in both maintenance and energy expenditure. With this in mind, TAC has launched EnergyEdge to help businesses reduce their operating costs and improve their building performance.

"EnergyEdge works in several stages - we will carry out a utility consumption analysis, provide a detailed report and action plan which will outline a return on any investment and then manage the implementation of any project.  A very important aspect is the ongoing sustainability of savings so that customers reap the benefits year on year.

"We can help businesses save money instantly and in many cases without capital outlay.  However, by monitoring and managing energy usage into the future, any initial expenditure on equipment will more than pay for itself in the form of vastly reduced utility bills."

TAC says the added benefits are improved staff and customer comfort, leading to higher productivity.

Burley added: "It is accepted fact that an improved working environment can help increase staff productivity - even an increase of one or two per cent on productivity would provide a huge financial benefit to businesses.  Employers spend thousands of pounds looking for ways to motivate staff, yet doing something as simple as making sure they are comfortable all the time could have major benefits, reducing sick time and increasing productivity."
