Donovan heads up Chiron's new dedicated security business

Published on 27 February 2007

Chiron Technology has recruited a high profile industry figure to head up its newly formed security subsidiary.  Keith Donovan joins Chiron IP Security Ltd from his role as MD of Visonic UK, with a brief to further expand the applications for Chiron's Iris alarms-over-IP system and related equipment.

Donovan's wide market experience includes engineering, sales and marketing with businesses including Chubb Group, using his electronic/engineering background and business management skills.

"Chiron's Iris IP system is now specified by over 50 monitoring centres across Europe that boast more than 10,000 connections.  Iris is also independently certified to stringent European standards EN 50131 and 50136 and approved by insurance companies across Europe.  Additionally, it is the first to meet the highest risk level of grade 4 - ATS6 for monitoring systems across both normal IP lines and GPRS," comments Chiron Group MD Ian Tredinnick.

"We've brought Keith Donovan in to capitalise on that success and drive forward our work with installers, end users, ARCs and insurers - all of whom are increasingly using Iris for their alarm transmission and monitoring requirements."

Among Iris' users are high street retailer Halfords and the travel agency and tour operator Thomas Cook, which reports substantial monitoring cost savings of some 70% per year compared with Redcare.

Donovan is working alongside Chiron IP Security's Corporate Accounts Manager, Vikram Datar, who's transferred across from Chiron Technology to join him.
