Sanyo passes the Test at 'The Home of Cricket'

Published on 27 June 2007

One of the world's finest cricket coaching venues, the MCC Indoor Cricket School, is capitalising on the very latest CCTV technology from SANYO to help future Test and County stars hone their skills.

The SANYO technology is a part of the School's Performance Analysis Suite, which was recently completed and has already been used by top cricketers including England's Alastair Cook.

Founded in the 1970s, and re-built in the 1990s, the School, which is situated within Lord's Cricket Ground uses state-of-the-art facilities to help a wide range of cricketers - from absolute beginners to elite players - develop their batting, bowling and fielding skills.  The School has helped to train some of the world's finest cricketers, including Ian Botham, Martin Crowe and Angus Fraser.

Working in conjunction with Hawk-Eye technology, 100mph bowling machines and expert coaches, the SANYO CCTV systems equip students with the ability to review their batting and bowling actions from every possible angle.

Twelve SANYO VCC-9000P dome cameras have been installed at key points around the bowling lanes and the images are recorded onto one of eight DSR-810PA digital video recorders (DVRs).  Both the cameras and DVRs can be controlled from a single VSP-9000 touch-screen keyboard and the images can be retrieved and viewed on a Plasma Screen and on a PC via Hawk-Eye's software.

Hawk-Eye Innovations Ltd have been providing ball tracking systems for TV cricket coverage for over six years and were asked to source and install a high performance CCTV system.

Steve Carter of Hawk-Eye said, "We had previously installed SANYO equipment at the ECB National Academy at Loughborough University and so we were confident that it would work in perfect harmony with our Hawk-Eye technology to provide the MCC Indoor Cricket School with a superb training tool."
