SANYO chips in with pan-focus technology

Published on 22 March 2007

Casinos have always looked to take advantage of the latest advances in CCTV surveillance in order to provide a safe environment for customers and employees whilst deterring and detecting would-be cheats.  It is therefore not surprising that the new CCTV cameras at the state of the art G Casino in Luton are equipped with SANYO's Pan-Focus technology.

The sophisticated CCTV system was installed by ID Technology Group whose Sales Director, Matt Allen said:  "One of the challenges we faced when designing the CCTV system for the G Casino in Luton was the varying light conditions that we knew the cameras would have to cope with across the venue and around the gaming tables.  The demand was for high quality, high resolution images in order to combat possible cheating and to monitor the gaming.  The low light conditions had the potential to affect the way the cameras were set up and focused."

The solution was found by using the latest Pan-Focus technology from SANYO.  The ID Technology Group believe that they have set a new standard for capturing high quality images within a casino environment.  Matt Allen added:  "As a result of using the new innovative Pan-Focus cameras, we believe we have provided Rank with a system that offers the best images ever in a casino to effectively monitor all activities within the establishment and on the gaming floor."

The G Casino in Luton, which is part of a nationwide chain of casinos operated by Rank, opened at the end of February 2007.  It is equipped with over 70 cameras which are a combination of internal, external and fully functional dome cameras - many with built-in SANYO Pan-Focus technology.

SANYO Pan-Focus optics enable the camera to focus on all objects in the field of view.  With a huge depth of field, as a result, clear images are consistently generated without any need for focus adjustments.

John Butler, Director of Security for Rank Gaming Division said:  "We have employed SANYO CCTV equipment for many years throughout our Casino and Bingo estates and have always been extremely satisfied with the performance.  We are, however, always looking to achieve more from our investment in CCTV and are therefore very pleased that SANYO are able to deliver us the benefits of a substantial advance in technology."
