IFSEC 2007 best ever for Paxton Access

Published on 6 June 2007

IFSEC 2007 proved to be Paxton Access' most successful ever.  The launch of Net2 nano, a new wireless control unit for Net2, Paxton Access' leading network access control system, delighted customers who swiftly recognised its potential to reduce the cost of purchasing and installing Net2.  Paxton Access Limited is the UK market leader in the design and manufacture of electronic access control systems.

Net2 nano excited installers for the opportunity it presents to increase the number of environments in which access control can be installed.

"Our customers are constantly looking for ways to reduce installation costs and encourage the widespread adoption of access control," says Mark Thompson, Paxton Access' Development Director. "Net2 nano is undoubtedly quicker and therefore cheaper to install. This means that where doors were previously considered too difficult or costly to add (perhaps because of the low traffic they experience) Net2 nano can provide a very cost effective route to their inclusion within a Net2 system."

A Net2 access control system comprises one or more Net2 control units that are wired to the central Net2 server.  Each control unit runs independently and reports centrally on user access and events.  Net2 nano is a wireless control unit that connects to the central Net2 server, via a Net2Air desktop reader, using Paxton Access' proprietary and secure Net2Air wireless technology.

"Customers want a choice of fixed wired and wireless control units", continues Mark Thompson. "Wired systems offer the ultimate in reliability and guaranteed response, whereas wireless control units are better suited to applications where users do not need a guarantee that the control units can report information to the Net2 server in ‘real-time' ".

Amongst other new Paxton Access products on display at IFSEC were a new marine proximity reader and a new series of designer proximity readers specifically for the architectural market.

The Marine reader is manufactured from marine grade stainless steel, which makes it suitable for use in the harshest of environments.  Designed to be stylish as well as practical, the reader is low profile and has inner and outer circles of light.  The lighting is attractive and gives excellent visibility.

The designer architectural reader is for use in buildings where style and design are important requirements.  The reader is available in a choice of bezel colours; gunmetal grey, matt black and satin chrome.  A choice of three inserts is available to complement the building: stone, wood and glass.  A template is also available for the manufacture of bespoke inserts.
