Octavian increases training strength

Published on 17 August 2007

Internationally operating security firm, Octavian Security, has appointed Charles Napier as the company's first training and development manager.

Reporting to operations and training director, Jot Englebrecht, Charles will form part of Octavian's SITO registered training division, where he will be responsible for training new recruits and developing the skills of current employees - in addition to training officers from competitor security companies.

Charles joins Octavian with over 20 years' experience in the security sector - including many years spent in the RAF in both the UK and Germany where he worked as a specialist advisor to ground defence.  Charles has also managed security for giant utilities in the Middle East and the UK and has recently gone back to the classroom himself to achieve a post-graduate diploma in Security Management.

"Octavian now has a 400 strong team and so its training needs are immense - not to mention the hundreds of security officers from other companies that we train to meet the required security industry standards each year," explains Octavian Group managing director, Sukhi Ghuman.

"Charles has managed some colossal responsibilities throughout his successful career, which will stand him in good stead for managing our training capability, which is at the very heart of the service that we provide for clients, and more importantly, is what Octavian is known for."

In addition to his security talents, Charles was also the team mechanic/technical coach for the British Bobsleigh team when they won the bronze medal at the 1998 Winter Olympic Games in Nagano and 2002 Winter Olympics at Salt Lake City.

He will be working from Octavian's headquarters in Nottingham.
