Honeywell announced the launch of the Galaxy 3-48 intruder alarm panel that complements the existing Galaxy 3 Series range (G 3-144 and G 3-520), and offers full compliance with the requirements of PD6662/prEN50131-1:2004 to Security Grade 3.

The G3-48 is a 48 zone panel, developed in response to feedback from Honeywell ‘Voice of the Customer' research that highlighted a need for a security grade 3 panel that could be installed in ‘entry level' applications.

The G3-48 features include 16 onboard programmable zones, with eight onboard programmable outputs, an RS232 serial port and an integrated PSTN modem/dialler for improved communications performance.  It includes an integrated, intelligent 1.5A power supply unit that provides diagnostic information such as battery status, and meets the requirements of PD6662:2004/prEN50131-1:2004 security grade 3 installations.

The G3-48 is fully backwards compatible with existing Galaxy alarm systems, and has the same user interface - designed to make it easy to upgrade from existing Galaxy panels.  This smooth transition for installers reduces the need for additional training for installation, programming or servicing.  The G3-48 is compatible with all existing as well as new Galaxy peripherals, including the Mk7 keypad, the alphanumeric LCD keyprox, RIO and wireless systems.

The G3-48 shares the Galaxy 3 Series support for full system diagnostics - locally or remotely, and offers maintenance options as well as proactive identification of system faults.

The Galaxy 3-48 has been designed to detect all sensor status on a single zone - for short circuit, low to high resistance, masked and open circuit - removing the need for additional zones to support sensor anti-masking.  The G3-48 is supported with dedicated PC applications, starting with the Galaxy Remote Servicing Suite - for installers, the Galaxy User Management Suite for both installers and end users and the Honeywell Networking Downloader - designed for large remote servicing operations.
