Bosch IP security for high speed Channel Tunnel linkA 450-camera Bosch IP surveillance system has been completed for St Pancras International station, part of the high speed Channel Tunnel rail link, which is due to open in November. Controlware Communications provided technical design, product supply, integration, commissioning and operator training services for the new integrated system. The new surveillance solution includes a mixture of static and dome cameras, IP codecs, networked storage and an advanced management platform, so that images can be monitored from multiple locations. Easy to use management tools provide users with fast access to live and recorded video, while the surveillance network is scalable to support growth of cameras and storage requirements in the future. Controlware worked closely with CORBER to ensure that the video surveillance system was fully integrated with other management systems including intruder alarms, electronic access control, station management and help points. As an IP Bosch Security Specialist Dealer for the UK, Controlware used Bosch Security products, including Videojet 8008 and VIP-X transmission codec's, Networked Video Recording, RAID storage, and VIDOS management. The refurbishment and extension of St Pancras International is part of HS1, managed by London & Continental Railways. Following the completion of the 79km first section of track in 2003, the second section of HS1 extends the track a further 39km to St Pancras International at a cost of £3.3bn. This will enable twice the number of Eurostar trains to travel to Paris, Brussels and Lille at peak times, while connections from London to Paris will take 2 hours and 15 minutes, and from London to Brussels in well under 2 hours. |
