Forward-looking solution at STIHL with LEGIC technologyAt STIHL's plant in Wil (Switzerland) around 700 employees produce chainsaws, which are shipped worldwide. At this site, a solution jointly implemented by primion Städtler and Häfele now integrates even the "standard" doors, via Dialock Integra offline door terminals and a ZKSWIN software module, into a comprehensive online access control system based on LEGIC contactless technology. Chainsaws made by STIHL, a STIHL Group company, are used all over the world: over 30,000 STIHL partners in roughly 140 countries distribute these high-quality products. Manufacturing has been based in the Swiss town of Wil since 1974. The plant has been extended in several stages since then. Approximately 700 employees, including external labour, currently work at this site. A primion Städtler software solution is now used to administer all access authorisations for both the workforce and visitors. The ability to integrate several applications into one system and one database was, among other things, a decisive factor in opting for this solution. Integrated online/offline solution Primion Städtler's ZKSWIN software module is used to implement this modern, scalable security/access control concept. This access control software offers major advantages, particularly with regard to a high level of corporate security, modularity and customisability. Primion Städtler also achieved an innovative market-first by integrating key management into the access control software at STIHL. Thanks to cooperation with its partner Häfele, access control solutions are now available for any kind of ACCESS point, i.e. for both online and offline points. The ZKSWIN Integra software module, together with Häfele's innovative Dialock Integra door terminal, makes it possible to combine the advantages of electronic access control with the flexibility of offline access control and dispenses with the need for door wiring. This made it possible to prevent the creation of isolated security "islands" in certain areas of the company. This link between ZKSWIN and Häfele's mechatronic access components makes it possible to use just a single LEGIC credential for all the existing access and locking systems in the company. This medium is enabled for using the locking systems online daily from a virtual reception point (write/read terminal). This system does away with time-consuming administration of individual locking systems, e.g. for doors, lockers, pigeonholes etc. and obviates the need to use other locking media such as mechanical keys.
