Paxton Access' Net2 combats backdoor threats and controls the movement of visitors and employees within a buildingBy concentrating on backdoor threats (thieves, vandals & intruders) security systems often neglect the threat posed by visitors to a site. Net2 access control provides security against both, as well as helping a site to conform to health and safety regulations. An ordinary pass based visitor management system may be efficient at recording arrival and departure times, but it's limited to just that. Unlike Net2, it can't restrict visitors' movements around a site once they have been cleared to enter. When visitors ‘sign in' at a Net2 controlled site they are issued with a token (keyfob, proximity card etc) that restricts their movement to designated areas for a given time frame. For example, visitors may have access rights to corridor doors, entrance/exit doors and toilets between the hours of 09.00 -17.00. The added advantage with access control is that employees' movements can be restricted and monitored too; thereby ensuring they don't enter unauthorised areas. This is especially important for the protection of sensitive information and physical assets. Although preventative by nature, Net2 records all access events to provide a data log in case of unusual incidents. CCTV integration with Net2 makes the investigative process more thorough by providing video footage against each access event. The ability to interpret data quickly and efficiently to solve security issues makes Net2 a comprehensive system. However, its capacity to prevent intrusion in the first place is its core advantage. Utilising a VMS that doesn't incorporate access control undermines the security of a building. |
