Published on 19 August 2008

CEM AC2000 SE access control system was installed by ADT® Hong Kong and secures almost 400 doorsCEM AC2000 SE security management system installed at Hong Kong's new Shaw Studios Movie City complex.

CEM® Systems, a leading access control brand of Tyco International, recently announced that Shaw Studios has implemented the CEM AC2000 SE (Standard Edition) security management system to provide security at their new Hong Kong movie city complex.  Forming part of a central building management system, the AC2000 SE access control system was installed by ADT® Hong Kong and secures almost 400 doors.

The prestigious Shaw Studios complex is one of the world's most technologically advanced film and digital production facilities.  Located in Tseung Kwan O, Hong Kong, the complex is owned by Shaw Property Holdings and covers 1.2 million square feet, featuring an administration building, two-story film processing centre, a world class 400-seat theatre, 5 large sound stages and a digital post-production center housing 18 suites for final mix, audio recording and picture editing and effects.

Shaw Studios chose the CEM AC2000 SE system security management system to provide 24/7 security and alarm monitoringTo secure personnel and clients within the Shaw Studio complex and to protect valuable assets and post-production facilities, the client required a reliable and highly secure security management solution.  To meet these requirements, Shaw Studios chose the CEM AC2000 SE system security management system to provide 24/7 security and alarm monitoring without the risk of security being compromised at the site.

"The AC2000 SE system has a large install base of large sites where high security is imperative, making it an appealing solution for the Shaw Studios complex," said Andrew Fulton, Business Development Director for CEM System products.   "The system design includes 100% system continuity using a secondary failover server, as well as intelligence at the door using CEM EtherProx IP card readers with internal database for off-line card validation."

The AC2000 SE system is successfully securing personnel at the prestigious Hong Kong studio buildingsThe CEM EtherProx readers installed at Shaw Studios support MIFARE smart cards and come equipped with advanced features such as an LCD, keypad, and internal database for card validation at the door - ensuring the highest level of system stability even if offline from the host controller.

"The ability to support full Ethernet structure using CEM EtherProx readers in the Shaw Studio complex was pivotal in the client's decision to use the CEM AC2000 SE system", said Frank IP, Global Account Manager Greater China, ADT Hong Kong.  "The impressive AC2000 SE software capabilities also made it the system of choice as it features sophisticated modules including CCTV integration, central alarm and event monitoring, integrated ID badging, visitor management, time and attendance, and advanced reporting".

With the installation complete, the AC2000 SE system is successfully securing personnel at the prestigious Hong Kong studio buildings, and with virtually unlimited expansion capabilities has the benefit of easily expanding should the Shaw Studios complex continue to grow.
