Importance of security in educational institutions

According to the [UK] Home Office, students own more expensive consumer goods per capita than the rest of the population.  It is no wonder then that they are targeted - one third of the UK student population was a victim of crime during 2003.  School-aged children account for 21% of all robbery victims, with over half the victims being robbed between the hours of 2pm and 6pm.
