World famous almighty cockups...

A woman thought that she had won Euro 250,000 on the lottery, only to learn that her mother had put the ticket, which was in her trouser pocket, in the wash.  The woman salvaged the ticket, which was still recognisable, but lottery organisers declared it invalid.
