Increasing need for security in the banking and financial sector
Banks and financial institutions have always been and will always remain a temptation to criminals due to the large amounts of money that are stored, and the amounts of high value transactions that take place within them. According to the FBI, there were 7,272 crimes perpetrated on financial institutions in the United States in 2006. In 92% of these incidents, loot was taken from the premises, including $70,384,936 in cash. In the UK, the biggest ever cash robbery was committed at the Securitas depot in Tonbridge, Kent, where the thieves escaped with £53 million (over $100 million).
