Identity management: 

Know the person to whom you are giving access privileges 

• Scan and archive the identification documents he/she presents
• Conduct background check for felonies, inclusion on government watch lists, etc.
• Protect yourself by using the workflow software, checklists to ensure no steps are missed

• Create a digital identity for the person and manage it over time
  • Assign him/her a digital certificate. This is a small, uniquely-identifiable electronic file you obtain from a Certificate Authority (CA)
  • Give the requestor his/her certificate. Smart cards are the most common medium for storing, transporting and using certificates for access control. USB drives and other tokens are also options
  • Manage name changes, lost cards, role and privilege changes, etc. over time

Access management:

• Use the digital certificate on the smart card (or on another token) to authorize access to building areas AND the PC and IT network. Include a fingerprint or other biometric along with PIN code for highest security
• Implement role-based access control (RBAC) to control who gets access to what resources
• Use the same certificate and credential for single-sign-on, provisioning or other applications, if desired
• Use the digital certificate to do periodic checks of privilege worthiness (i.e. has the person recently been convicted of a crime, been added to a criminal/terrorist watch list, had their driver's license suspended?). Query the Credential Revocation List (CRL) or Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) to see if the certificate has been revoked

The end-to-end solution to ensure your security success. The Hirsch IAMS enables you to:

Authenticate & manage identities: Collect identification documents and biometrics, link to background check services, and obtain a certificate from the Certificate Authority (CA). Specialised workflow software manages the process and guides you through best practices that help ensure compliance, privacy and security.

Issue smart cards (or other tokens): Encode (write data to the chip) smart cards with user data including fingerprints or other biometrics if desired. Print employee badges utilising anti-counterfeit and anti-tamper features. Choose from a variety of smart card and token types including MIFARE, DESFire, PIV and TWIC.

Enrol/register smart cards: Hirsch's Quick Credential Converter (QCC) enrols the new smart card's information into the access control system without any typing, converts the access privileges from the old card to new, and deactivates old card. All in just a few mouse clicks.

Control and track access: Use the same card for both physical (building) and logical (PC/network) access. Link to the HR system to instantly add new employees and delete terminated ones. Set Velocity to periodically check the validity of all your employees' certificates (Velocity will use the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) to poll the Certificate Revocation List (CRL) or Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP), so you can disable a credential immediately if warranted when you receive critical third-party information. Choose from numerous Hirsch smart card readers including the "RUU" (as in, "Are You You?") Verification Station, which validates the card, PIN code, fingerprint and digital certificate.
