Axis gains market share in EMEA according to new IMS report

Published on 1 February 2008

Axis Communications has increased its share of the network camera market in Europe, the Middle East and Africa from 42 to 46 per centIMS Research's latest report on the video surveillance equipment market across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) has confirmed that Axis Communications has grown its share of the network camera market in the region from 42 per cent to 46 per cent.

Within the security cameras category of the report, which includes all cameras (analogue and network based), IMS ranked Axis as the number three brand within EMEA, an equal position to last year's report but with a marked increase in overall market share from 5.8 per cent to 8.3 per cent.  IMS also forecasts that the combined worldwide market for network cameras is set to continue to grow at an annual rate of 40 per cent.

In the same report IMS ranks all vendors that provide video surveillance equipment, including digital and analogue security equipment such as cameras, recording solutions and video servers/encoders.  Axis was ranked as the number four brand within EMEA, moving from seventh place in the previous study.

Simon Harris, manager - security and ID research group, IMS Research, commented: "Axis has consistently gained market share in recent years moving from 7th in EMEA to be positioned 4th in 2006.  Axis' strong position in the market demonstrates the importance of network video in today's market."

Steve Gorski, managing director, Axis Communications (UK) Ltd, commented: "Demand for network video keeps growing strongly and Axis through a policy of continuous innovation and focus, is able to introduce new products to keep ahead of the market.  This is a very exciting time for Axis as we continue to gain share across analogue and network camera sectors."
