| With the onset of dark winter nights Derwent are sending out a warning to CCTV system designers and users; give greater consideration to illumination.
“We estimate that as many as half of existing CCTV systems currently deliver unusable images during the dark winter months” says Marketing Director Shaun Cutler. “At this time of the year systems can be adversely affected from mid-afternoon onwards. In fact, during winter, light levels can drop as early as 3pm leaving CCTV systems vulnerable.”
As light levels fall the camera struggles to capture an effective image and without sufficient light the picture quality seriously deteriorates.
Many CCTV systems installed during the summer fail when they come up against the challenges of dark winter conditions” says Shaun Cutler. “The addition of a Derwent Infra-Red lamp can bring a system alive again, ensuring that it delivers pictures on a 24 hour basis.
